The Langhagensee is a lake in the north of the municipality New Poserin in the district Ludwigslust-Parchim in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern .

The lake is L-shaped with a wide north end and a narrow south end. At the bend of the lake there is a castle wall and hidden in the forest, surrounded by moor, is the hard-to-reach Small Langhagensee. The Langhagensee has no tributaries and is dependent on the groundwater. Strong water losses can be observed especially in summer.

The lake is about two kilometers long and up to 300 meters wide. The lake shore is almost completely forested and the northern part is swampy. In the middle of the lake there are two sandbanks that are only about knee deep. The lake is irrelevant for fishing.

At the lake there are the nature reserves dune pine forest in the west and the north shore Langhagensee and Kleiner Langhagensee in the north. At the southern end there is a small campsite and a heavily silted bathing area near the Wooster Teerofen settlement . A children's holiday camp was located at this bathing area until the 1990s. There was a military training area for the National People's Army near the lake .

The lake is located in the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature park .

Flora and fauna

White water lily and swimming pondweed grow in the Langhagensee . The bank area is made up of reeds , narrow-leaved cattails and pond sill . Schneideried as well as bladder and thread sedge grows in the area of ​​the former tank passage . Peat moss , round-leaved sundew and moor bear moss have been found on the dry shores in the northern area of ​​the Langhagensee .
