About this picture

Ganzlin is a municipality in the east of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). It is administered by the Plau am See office.

geography

The community is located 25 km north of Pritzwalk and 7.5 km south of Plau am See . The Plauer See (Mecklenburg) lies on the north-eastern edge of the municipality . Large parts of the district are forested, so there is the Ganzliner Holz in the east , the heights of which clearly tower above the lowest point of the community on the Plauer See. The Buchberg with 118.3  m above sea level. NHN is the highest point within the municipality. West of the village of Ganzlin is a wetland with former peat cuttings, in which the Gehlsbach rises.

The districts of the old community of Ganzlin were Dresenow, Dresenower Mühle, Ganzlin and Twietfort. Since the community was re-established on May 25, 2014, Gnevsdorf, Hof Retzow, Klein Dammerow, Retzow, Tönchow, Wangelin and Wendisch Priborn are also districts of Ganzlin.

history

Ganzlin was first mentioned in a deed of sale in 1346. The name is of Slavic origin and probably refers to the person's name Gasla so Gaselin means the village of Gasla. The nobleman Iwan von Below sold the village of Ganzlin to the Stepenitz monastery .

The church burned down at the beginning of the 20th century, but was rebuilt in 1903.

The medieval village of Gorgelin lay between Retzow and Wangelin . His church had branch churches in Retzow and Gnevsdorf. Due to the plague, Gorgelin fell in the 15th century. The church key is kept in the State Museum Schwerin .

Dammerow was listed as a sovereign domain in 1700.

At the end of the war in southern Mecklenburg (1945) a regiment of the Red Army moved through Ganzlin. A (still preserved) farmhouse served as quarters for the commander.

On May 25, 2014 Ganzlin merged with Buchberg (Mecklenburg) and Wendisch Priborn to form the new municipality of Ganzlin.

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE GANZLIN".

Fiber optic internet

With effect from November 6, 2017, WEMACOM Broadband GmbH received the funding to set up a fiber optic network in the entire municipality of Ganzlin. The complete expansion took place by the end of November 2019 and has been in live operation since then. Over 98% of the households in the municipality have the opportunity to be connected to the fiber optic network. Distribution is currently carried out by the parent company WEMAG in Schwerin. This enables bandwidths between 100 Mbit / s and 1,000 Mbit / s. The fiber optic network, which is subsidized with government funds, is also open to other providers.

Photovoltaic park

At the end of 2018, operations in the former Ganzlin gravel plant were discontinued. Afterwards, the already cleared area was worked on and more than 1 million cubic meters of earth and sand were moved to create a uniform surface. After this work was completed, the financing for the € 48 million project was secured and with the construction of 165,000 individual photovoltaic modules an output of approx. 65 megawatts was created.
