Coat of arms and flag of the former municipality

coat of arms

Buchberg coat of arms
Blazon : "In red a running golden stag over five five-petalled, silver flowers with green clusters placed in a five-pass."

The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Schwerin heraldist Heinz Kippnick . It was approved together with the flag on July 5, 2006 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under the number 304 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Justification of the coat of arms: In the design of the coat of arms, it was possible to tie in with the extinct symbol of the former municipality of Retzow, as its symbolism and tinging are also representative of the new municipality. Only the arrangement and the number of symbols needed to be changed so that the coat of arms is characteristic of the new municipality. The national emblem combines symbols with economic references. The deer stand for the traditional forestry in the municipality and the flowers on the one hand for traditional agriculture as the main livelihood of the inhabitants, especially for potato cultivation, on the other hand for the number of flowers for the five districts. As a result of the municipal merger with Wendisch Priborn and Ganzlin on May 25, 2014, the municipal coat of arms lost its status as a national emblem.
