About this picture

Techentin is a municipality in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). It is administered by the Goldberg-Mildenitz office based in the city of Goldberg (Mecklenburg) .

geography

The community is about 6 km west of Goldberg and 20 km south of Sternberg . The community area , which is elongated in north-south direction, borders in the north on the Dobbertiner See , which is partly on the community area. In the district of Langenhagen you will find the protected Langenhägener Seewiesen . The elevations in the municipality exceed almost 90  m above sea level. NHN .

Districts of the community are Augzin , Below, Hof Hagen , Langenhagen , Mühlenhof , Techentin and Zidderich.

history

The name Techentin comes from the Slavic "teche" for consolation. So techentin would mean place of comfort . It was first mentioned in a document in 1219. In the founding document of the Sonnenkamp monastery , the place was mentioned “in terra Cutsin in uilla, que dicitur Techutin, XX mansos”.

The village of Below was founded in the middle of the 13th century by the settlement of German farmers.

The village of Zidderich was founded in the middle of the 13th century by the de Belowe brothers. During the Thirty Years' War the place became depopulated. A building yard developed from the 17th century , which became a lease property. In 1945 the expropriation took place. Today (2011) there is nothing left of the manor house, a small remnant of the former manor park.

On January 1, 1951, the previously independent communities Below and Zidderich were incorporated.

At the same time as the local elections on June 7, 2009, the previously independent municipalities of Langenhagen and Techentin merged to form the municipality of Techentin.

coat of arms

Techentin's coat of arms
Blazon : "Two diagonally crossed golden abbot's staffs in red, accompanied: above by a golden crown of princes, below by a silver triangular shield with a black double-headed eagle inside."

The coat of arms and the flag were designed in 1997 by the Schwerin heraldist Heinz Kippnick , from October 29, 1997 to June 6, 2009 it was the emblem of the old community of Techentin and registered under the number 140 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. After the merger with the municipality of Langenhagen to form the new municipality of Techentin, the coat of arms was expressly accepted by the newly formed municipality and approved by the Ministry of the Interior on September 15, 2009 and registered under the number 327 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms makes historical references to the districts belonging to the municipality. The prince's crown primarily symbolizes the district of Zidderich as a temporary domain of the grand ducal household, and secondly the affiliation of all districts to the former duchy or grand duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. The crossed abbot sticks mark the affiliation of districts to the monasteries Sonnenkamp and Dobbertin. With the black double-headed eagle, the oldest coat of arms of those von Below, the reference to the alleged founder of the place of the same name is made. According to a heraldic legend, a Below is said to have received the coat of arms of Heinrich the Finkler (German King Heinrich I, r. 919-936) as an award for bravery in the fight against the Huns (more correctly: Hungary).
