Techentin was an independent village in West Mecklenburg and since its incorporation in 1972 it has belonged to the urban area of Ludwigslust in today's Ludwigslust-Parchim district .

In the north, Techentin borders directly on the urban area of ​​Ludwigslust. However, the buildings do not flow into one another, but are clearly separated by gardens, meadows and sports facilities. In the east Techentin is bordered by a forest area, in the south and west there are mainly agricultural fields and meadows.

history

Techentin was first mentioned in a document in 1525. Techentin was half destroyed in 1637 during the Thirty Years War .

After a schoolmaster was employed from 1704, a school was built in 1835 and expanded in the following period. In 1892 Techentin received a stop on the Ludwigslust – Dömitz railway line that had opened two years earlier . The Techentin volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1936 .

In the 1950s, the until then independent farmers united in agricultural production cooperatives. On October 1, 1972, it was incorporated into Ludwigslust.

After reunification , several new housing estates with mainly single-family houses emerged in Techentin in the 1990s. In addition, industrial sites were developed in the western part of Techentin, where several companies have settled. In 2001, the Ludwigslust – Dömitz railway was finally shut down after passenger traffic had been suspended a year earlier.

In 2015 Techentin celebrated its 490th anniversary.

Economy and Infrastructure

Techentin has a day-care center and a primary school. There is also a volunteer fire brigade and the Techentiner Carneval Club (TCC).
