Local elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania 2009
On June 7, 2009 , the 2009 municipal elections took place in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The CDU was able to win the most votes nationwide, while the SPD was pushed back to third by the party Die Linke .
The elections took place parallel to the 2009 European elections . Out of 1,426,344 eligible voters, 664,464 citizens cast their votes, which corresponds to a turnout of 46.6 percent. Were chosen twelve district councils , six citizenships / city offices of the independent cities and more than 800 local councils , some full-time and numerous honorary mayor and two district administrators in the districts Müritz and Mecklenburg-Strelitz .
