Location of the Müritz district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania | |
The Müritz district was a district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern , in the course of the district reform in 2011 in Mecklenburg County Lakeland opened.
geography
The district of Müritz was in the southern center of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Neighboring districts were in the north the district of Demmin , in the east the district of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and the independent city of Neubrandenburg , in the south the Brandenburg district of Ostprignitz-Ruppin , in the west the district Parchim and in the northwest the district Güstrow .
The district of Müritz takes its name from the body of the same name, the Müritz . To the east of the Müritz, the district has a share in the Müritz National Park , in the northeast in the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature park and in the north in the Mecklenburg Switzerland and Kummerower See nature reserve . The Müritz district is very sparsely populated.
history
The Müritz district was created on June 12, 1994 from the former Röbel / Müritz and Waren districts and individual communities in the Malchin and Neustrelitz districts (see also Neubrandenburg district ).
According to political plans, the district of Müritz should merge into a newly founded "District of Mecklenburg Lake District" with the district town of Neubrandenburg . After the judgment of the state constitutional court of July 26, 2007, the original reform law could not be implemented as it was incompatible with the state's constitution. In the course of a new district reform in 2011 , the district finally became part of the new Mecklenburg Lake District .

coat of arms
Blazon : “Above a four-fold tinned red wall shield base with an open gate, in it silver, wavy blue water, split; in front, in gold, a black bull's head, crowned in gold, with a closed mouth, a knocked out red tongue and silver horns; behind in blue a flying silver osprey with an upright flight and a silver fish in its claws. "
The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the graphic artist Werner Schinko from Röbel . It was approved on March 20, 1995 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under number 81 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. |
|
Reasons for the coat of arms: In the coat of arms, the bull's head, the coat of arms of the Werle rulership, reminds of the fact that most of the current district belonged to the former territory of the Lords of Werle from 1229 to 1436 after the first main division of the state (from 1418 princes to Wenden). While the osprey symbolizes the nature to be protected in the Müritz district, in particular the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature park and the Müritz National Park, the four-tinned wall with gate stands for the four cities belonging to the district: those on Germany's largest inland lake, the Müritz - namesake of the district - located district town Waren, Malchow, Penzlin and Röbel. The silver undulating water is intended to symbolize the lake landscape of the district with over 150 lakes of more than 1 hectare in size. The colors of the base of the wall shield and the two fields indicate that the district is part of the Mecklenburg region. |

flag
The flag was approved by the Ministry of the Interior on December 7, 1995.
The flag is evenly striped lengthways. The top stripe is divided into a red top corner and a yellow flying end, the bottom stripe is blue. In the middle of the flag, at seven tenths of the height of the red and yellow stripe and three fifths of the height of the blue stripe, is the coat of arms of the district. The length of the flag is related to the height as 5: 3.
Partnerships
The Müritz district maintains a district partnership with the Warendorf district in North Rhine-Westphalia , the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein and the Polish powiat Suwalski in the Podlachian voivodeship .
