history
The area around Mollenstorf, like all of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, must have been settled very early by Neolithic cultures . Numerous archaeological finds testify to this. Not far from the way from Mollenstorf to Großviel, there is a group of three barrows from the Bronze Age , which are protected as archaeological monuments and are also reflected in legends.
The place was probably called Mollenstorp and Mollenstorf earlier , and from 1558 Mollenstorf .
The church was first mentioned in 1335 and is an early Gothic building in the shape of a square around which the cemetery is laid out. A free-standing belfry stands on the west side of the church with two bells from the 14th and 15th centuries.
The Bardenfleth family owned the Mollenstorf estate until 1548; until 1764 the families Johann von Lucka (Mecklenburg Chancellor), von Below , von Holstein , von Kahlden , von Bibow followed .
In 1764 Justus von Gundlach acquired the Mollenstorf estate; it then remained in the family's hands until 1945. The two-story massive mansion was built around 1880. Around 1897 the farm workers' houses, a large horse stable and the barn were built. This created the good character of the village. In 1923 the village received electricity.
