Location of Kogel in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

Kogel is a district of the municipality of Fünfseen in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).

The three prefabricated buildings are very distinctive for the elongated place. At the end of the village is the Kogeler See with a public bathing area and two larger jetties.

history

Kogel was first mentioned in a document in 1255 and for a long time it was a pure estate of the von Flotow family since Prince Werle enfeoffed Andreas von Flotow with the settlement in 1340.

On January 1, 2005, the place was incorporated into the new community of Fünfseen .

Mansion

The former manor of the Flotow family was converted into a cultural center after the Second World War . The original design of the building was not preserved and gave way to a modern architectural style. In the culture house there was a large hall for performances, a large dining room and an apprentice dormitory for trainees of the "LPG Satow-Kogel". On the upper floor of the house there were bedrooms and training rooms for the nearby “LPG Satow-Kogel”. At the end of the 20th century, the land on which the mansion and other manor houses were located were sold and all buildings demolished. Today there is a green area on the site of the manor house.

Public facilities

Regional school Kogel

The school, which opened on September 1, 1983, was the central point of contact for children from the surrounding villages for 23 years. When it opened, 225 students from Lexow , Walow , Grüssow, Rogeez, Kogel, Satow, Zislow- Suckow, Penkow and Woldzegarten attended the school. They were taught by 25 teachers. The school club , which was responsible for the afternoon service of primary school children, belonged to four teachers. The rooms of the culture house were used for school meals. This was continued after reunification until the mid-1990s.

Between 1992 and 2003, 330,000 euros went into modernizing the school complex. The funds were used for the modernization and repair of the gym roof, the renewal of the gym floor, the replacement of facade windows and doors of the school building and the gym. On September 16, 1996, a computer cabinet was sponsored by Microsoft Germany and handed over by the then Prime Minister Berndt Seite . For the 20th anniversary celebration in 2003, the words “Regionale Schule Kogel” were affixed to the main entrance of the school.

The Kogel Regional School was closed at the end of the 2006 school year. The building has been empty since then. The adjacent gymnasium is still used by various clubs. The sports field belonging to the property has been equipped with floodlights since 2006 and is used by the Kogel soccer club SV Kogel . A cinder track runs around the square, which was used for school sports. Adjacent is a long jump facility, a beach volleyball field and a smaller soccer field.

There is a kindergarten in the center of the village . The low building was built in the 1970s.
