Satow is a district of the municipality of Fünfseen in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).
history
The place Satow was first mentioned in 1344 in a deed .
The gravel quarrying site at the entrance to the village was actively used until the beginning of the 1990s. There is a nursery in the village with several large glass greenhouses. Before the fall of the Wall, it belonged to the LPG Satow-Kogel. Today only a small part of the facilities is actively managed. On the outskirts is the Hofsee ( Satower See ), which is bordered by the village church and cemetery.
Incorporation
On January 1, 2005, Satow was incorporated into the new municipality of Fünfseen .
church
The church, which is located between Hofsee and Dorfstrasse, was built in 1284. After it was destroyed in the Thirty Years War , it was rebuilt, which was completed around 1700. Since the mid-1990s, parts of the church have been restored again and again, partly financed by donations. The bell is outside the church in a bell cage. On top of the bell is an ornamental ribbon with the slogan "Peace on Earth" attached. On the back it bears the inscription “ Franz Schilling Apolda 1919 ” . There are graves of the Flotow family in the cemetery . The rectory is no longer inhabited by the pastor's family.
