The church, which is located between Hofsee and Dorfstrasse, was built in 1284. After it was destroyed in the Thirty Years War , it was rebuilt, which was completed around 1700. Since the mid-1990s, parts of the church have been restored again and again, partly financed by donations. The bell is outside the church in a bell cage. On top of the bell is an ornamental ribbon with the slogan "Peace on Earth" attached. On the back it bears the inscription Franz Schilling Apolda 1919 . There are graves of the Flotow family in the cemetery . The rectory is no longer inhabited by the pastor's family.
