Flotow (noble family)
The von Flotow family is a first-class Mecklenburg family who first appeared in a document in 1241 with Godefridus de Vlotowe .
history
The name and coat of arms make the origin of the sex from the rule Vlotho on the middle Weser likely, where a Godefridus de Vlothowe first appears in 1183 and 1187.
The lineage of the Mecklenburg family begins with Andreas von Flotow (1477–1485) on Stuer and Woldzegarten , governor in Plau.
Georg Friedrich von Flotow (1786–1876) was a royal Bavarian chamberlain and general and was raised to the Bavarian baron status on January 4, 1829. His grandson Ludwig Freiherr von Flotow (1867–1948) was Austria-Hungary's last foreign minister .
There is a family association founded in 1937 .
