The ruins of Stuer Castle are located near the town of Stuer near the B 198 in southern Mecklenburg .

The family castle of the von Flotow family was built as a moated castle in the middle of the 14th century in connection with enfeoffments from the von Werle family to this family . The building shows a subdivision into the outer bailey and the main bailey. The oldest walls are still made of field stones and lime mortar . Later buildings were built from field stones combined with bricks and finally only from bricks. After a fire in 1660 the castle was abandoned. The outer bailey was inhabited until the 1930s.

The castle was later used as a quarry . Only the residential tower remained partially undamaged and was used as a small museum until the 1940s. After removing the roof, a corner of the tower broke off. Archaeological investigations took place in the 1980s . The damp meadows have been flooded in recent years, so that the castle hill is again partially surrounded by water, as it was before. After the castle was opened up for tourism (paths, stairs), it fell into disrepair again. There is a danger to life when entering the facility.

In the vicinity of the castle are the former hill-towers Stuer and Darze .
