history

Dummerstorf

Dummerstorf was first mentioned as a settlement in 1360. The original name of the settlement Domamerstorp is of Wendish origin and means place of Domamer , that is, of someone who has fame from home.

The von Preen family was one of the richest families of the landed gentry in Mecklenburg until the 19th century , and Dummerstorf was one of their estates. At the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries In the 19th century, they had numerous cottages and a school building built for the serf farmers along today's Alte Dorfstrasse . They had the manor house built in Dummerstorf built around 1730 rebuilt around 1800. At the end of the 19th century the family's economic situation deteriorated. The last owner of the estate, Achim von Prehn, sold the property in 1905 to the German-American Enrique Gildemeister.

From 1952 to 1994 Dummerstorf belonged to the Rostock-Land district (until 1990 in the GDR - Rostock district , then in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania). In 1994 the community was incorporated into the Bad Doberan district. Since the district reform in 2011 , Dummerstorf has been in the Rostock district .

The municipality was the seat of the Warnow-Ost office from 1996 to 2009 . After its dissolution on June 7th, 2009, Dummerstorf emerged as an office-free municipality through the voluntary amalgamation of the former municipalities of Damm, Dummerstorf, Kavelstorf, Kessin, Favoritehof and Prisannewitz.

Districts

Bandelstorf manor house

Bandelstorf was named in 1339 as the ancestral seat of the von Prehn family. Since 1827 the estate was owned by the Schlettwein family and from 1908 by Eilert von Voss, from 1911 to 1945 by the Rimpau family . During restoration work in 1996 foundations and remnants of walls, clay and straw components and floor tiles were found on the first floor of the manor house, dating from at least the early 18th century. Presumably there was a larger court or castle complex as the seat of the Prehn family.

Schwerin, November 20, 1828 “The background to this was the visit of grandfather Johann August Schlettwein to the English country estate Dishley Grange of the agrarian reformer Robert Bakewell .

Kavelstorf : The Romanesque / Gothic village church of Kavelstorf , mainly made of field stone, dates from the middle of the 13th century.

Kessin was mentioned as Goderac in documents from the 12th century and was renamed Godehardsdorf . The place was named a little later after Kessin Castle . The Romanesque / Gothic St. Godehard Church as a stone church dates from 1269 ( choir ) and from around 1360 ( nave made of brick). Landowners were u. a. the Quast families (1305–1350), Kröpelin (until 1496), Kerkhoff (until 1601), Friedrich Hein (until 1620), the city of Rostock (until 1684), the Ribnitz monastery (until 1781) and then again the city of Rostock.

Petschow : The Petschow estate was u. a. owned by the von Moltke , von Petersdorf, von Walsleben and Grüttner families ; it was relocated after 1927.

Reez was first mentioned in 1283. The estate was owned u. a. of the families von Preen (until 1576), von Bülow (until 1608), von Reventlow (until 1684), von Vietinghoff (until 1744), von Flotow (until 1803), von Müller (until 1817), von Bassewitz (until 1838) and von Plessen (until 1945). The manor house dates from 1840. After 1945 it was used as the commandant's office for the Red Army and then used for apartments and a restaurant. There has been a riding facility on the estate since around 2006, and the manor house is empty.

Scharstorf is a manor village. The property was u. a. owned by the Pätow (until 1799), Wendhausen (1804–1836), Hillmann / zu Rantzau (1836–1909) and Sellschopp (until 1938) families . The renovated manor house dates from the 19th century and is now used as a hotel.
