Poppendorf is a municipality in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The municipality is administered by the Carbäk office with its seat in the municipality of Broderstorf . The districts Bussewitz, Vogtshagen and Poppendorf belong to the community.
geography
The municipality of Poppendorf is located 15 km from Rostock and from the Baltic Sea coast. The slightly hilly area is drained by the Peezer Bach in the direction of Breitling . To the east of Poppendorf there is an extensive forest that is designated as a landscape protection area.
Poppendorf is surrounded by the neighboring communities Rövershagen in the north, Blankenhagen in the east, Broderstorf in the south and Bentwisch in the west.
history
Poppendorf was first mentioned in a document in 1286. The manor was sold at the end of the 13th century by the widow of the Danish King Waldemar II to the Petrikirche Rostock . It had many owners after the Reformation .
After the Thirty Years War , the districts of Bussewitz, Vogtshagen and Poppendorf developed into typical Mecklenburg settlements.
In the district of Vogthagen there is a Judenberg (Vogtshagen 1) called tower hill and a medieval castle with a tower hill and leveled ring ditch (Vogtshagen 3).
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Bussewitz was incorporated.
Economy and Infrastructure
Poppendorf is the location of a plant for the production of fertilizers and industrial chemicals . The fertilizer plant near Poppendorf has a siding on the Bentwisch – Poppendorf railway line . State road 182 runs through Poppendorf.
In 2003 Poppendorf was an external location for the International Garden Show .
In the municipality, the Poppendorf volunteer fire brigade provides fire protection and general help.

The Bentwisch – Poppendorf railway branches off from the Stralsund – Rostock railway in Bentwisch . Until December 31, 1993, Rostock S-Bahn trains ran during rush hour .
