Bröbberow is a municipality in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The municipality is administered by the Schwaan Office , based in the city of the same name .
geography
The municipality of Bröbberow is located on the Beke , a left tributary of the lower Warnow . The city of Schwaan is about six kilometers away, Rostock about 16 kilometers.
The places Bröbberow, Groß Grenz and Klein Grenz belong to Bröbberow.
history
Bröbberow, probably founded as Preberow in the 16th century, was proven to have belonged to the Schwaan office as early as 1550. The place name of Groß Grenz could be derived from the location of the village on the border of the former principality of Werle . On May 17, 1278, Groß Grenz and on February 5, 1283 Kleingrenz were first mentioned in a deed of sale from Princes Heinrich and Johann von Werle to Doberan Monastery . The area was settled much earlier. For example , women's jewelry from the Bronze Age was found in a burial mound on a gravel mountain near Klein Grenz .
After the Reformation and the dissolution of Doberan Monastery, Groß became a sovereign dominant village in the Schwaan district. Until 1640 the villages still paid taxes to the University of Rostock .
In the Thirty Years' War seven out of ten farms were destroyed and the other three also lost their independence. In 1631, Wallenstein's governor, Count Berthold von Wallenstein, stayed in Groß Grenz .
Bröbberow was Dominialhof des Landes in the Schwaan district until 1945. Since July 1, 1950, Bröbberow, Groß Grenz and Klein Grenz belong to the unified municipality of Bröbberow. The district responsibility changed several times over the years and since 1994 the community has belonged to the Bad Doberan district , which was added to the Rostock district in 2011 .
In 1945 there were ten farms in Klein Grenz, three boutiques and six cottages as well as a school.
The following mayors have existed since 1950: Mr. Braun until 1957, Mr. Rose until 1974, Mr. Roepke until 1999 and Mr. Marklein since then.
