Glasewitz is a municipality in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The community is administered by the Güstrow-Land office with its seat in the non-official district town of Güstrow .
geography
The community borders directly on the northeast of the district town of Güstrow. Glasewitz lies at the transition from the Recknitz glacial valley , which is drained by the Augraben , to the terminal moraine east of the lowland , which overlooks the Recknitz valley by around 40 meters. The area is wooded and has a few small lakes. The Hanseatic city of Rostock is around 30 kilometers away.
Glasewitz is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Plaaz in the north and east, Lalendorf in the south-east, and Güstrow in the south-west and west.
The districts of Dehmen and Kussow belong to Glasewitz.
history
The first mention of the place Glasewitz can be found in a document from 1369.
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities Dehmen and Kussow were incorporated.
Economy and Infrastructure
The population in Glasewitz has remained fairly stable in recent years. As of December 31, 2014, there were 424 inhabitants, 199 women and 225 men.
In the community there is a volunteer fire brigade , a day care center as well as a farm and a nursing home for the disabled in the district of Dehmen.
The farm is an ecological business that does not use chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Various types of grain are grown, some of which are used as a source of feed for their own animal husbandry. The company has specialized in cattle farming and broiler fattening.
Transport links
The A 19 runs from Berlin to Rostock near Glasewitz . A feeder runs from the Glasewitz junction directly to Güstrow. Just a little north of this junction is the Recknitzniederung motorway service station and rest area . The Priemerburg – Plaaz railway runs through the municipality . The nearest train stations are in the neighboring community of Plaaz and in Güstrow.
