history
About 1,400 years ago there was a Slavic refugee castle near Sukow , which is one of the oldest recorded in Mecklenburg. Excavations at the Museum of Prehistory and Early History in Schwerin have shown that the Slavic ceramics recovered here are the oldest finds of this kind in Mecklenburg. The name Sukower Group applies to these pieces .
Sukow
1314 Sukow was first mentioned in a document. From the beginning of the 16th century to the end of the 19th century, the estate was owned by the von Blücher family. The Marienhof district only emerged as a Vorwerk at the end of the 19th century .
Levitzow
The Levitzow district first appeared in a document in 1304. The village church of Levitzow is probably 20 years older, as indicated by the Romanesque arched windows.
The estate was owned by the Lowtzow family until the end of the 18th century and then had different owners. In the 1930s, West German Catholic settlers came to the municipality.
