history
Sanitz
Sanitz was first mentioned in a document as "Zaniz" (= "Hasenort", Slavic) in 1256 as a church village (as evidence of the allocation of the village church Dänschenburg as a Sanitzer daughter church). The church of Sanitz was mentioned again on the occasion of a contract dated June 2, 1291, in which Heinrich von Werle secured the right of patronage to the bishop of Schwerin over his ward Nikolaus von Rostock , which has since been held by the sovereign. Various families were recorded as vassals in the 14th century, such as the Rostock Bernhard Kopmann, the knight Siegfried von Plön, Reimar von Wedel, the Rostock councilor Dietrich Horn, his son, the mayor Dippold Horn. Through succession, the village came into the possession of the Doberan Monastery , to which it belonged until the Reformation . After secularization , it was subordinated to the Ribnitz office as a ducal domain in 1552 and leased to various families in the following centuries. The rectory - a renovated half-timbered building - dates from 1780, the old forge was mentioned in 1798 as an old hereditary forge. In 1879 the village was subordinated to the Toitenwinkel office.
From 1952 to 1994 Sanitz belonged to the Rostock-Land district (until 1990 in the GDR - Rostock district , then in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania). In 1994 the community was incorporated into the Bad Doberan district. Since the district reform in 2011 , Sanitz has been in the Rostock district .
