The Rostock district , unofficially also known as the Baltic Sea district, was established as one of a total of 14 districts in the course of the administrative reform of 1952 in the German Democratic Republic . He united the baltic close of the dissolved state Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , which he almost the entire Baltic coast of East Germany included (some of the shoreline of the Szczecin Lagoon was part of the district Neubrandenburg ). The Rostock district did not have a coat of arms, but the city coat of arms of the city of Rostock was occasionally used as a symbol for the district. With the re-establishment of the states through German reunification on October 3, 1990, the Rostock district again became part of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
