Finkenthal is a municipality in the east of the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The municipality is administered by the Gnoien Office , based in the city of the same name .
geography
The community of Finkenthal between the small towns of Gnoien and Dargun is surrounded by forest in slightly hilly terrain. In the east, the municipality borders on the Mecklenburg Lake District . Near the district Schlutow are 44 m above sea level. Reached NN, here is also one of the Peene springs (another near Boddin ). In addition, the Finkenbach, a small tributary of the Warbel, flows through Finkenthal .
Finkenthal is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Behren-Lübchin in the northeast, Dargun in the east, Altkalen in the south and Gnoien in the west and north.
Finkenthal includes the districts of Fürstenhof and Schlutow.
history
Finkenthal and Schlutow were mentioned in a document from the Dargun monastery in 1178.
Finkenthal was originally laid out as an anger village.
The Domanialgut Schlutow was leased to Walther and Joachim Harms from 1921 to 1945; the estate was relocated after 1945 and from around 1960 it was managed by the LPG . The Schlutow manor from 1883 was municipal property after 1945 and is now privately owned.
On January 1, 1951, the previously independent community of Fürstenhof was incorporated.

- Finkenthal Chapel from 1805, a half-timbered building to replace a previous building from 1560. The chapel has a small organ from the first half of the 19th century.

Transport links
The federal road 110 crosses the community, it leads from Rostock to Demmin . Finkenthal can be reached from the Autobahn 20 via the Ticino and Bad Sülze junction (distance approx. 17 km). The nearest train stations are in Ticino and Demmin.
