Boddin is a district of the municipality of Walkendorf in the east of the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).
geography
Boddin is located in a slightly hilly area southwest of the small town of Gnoien - on a larger scale north of Mecklenburg Switzerland and southeast of Rostock . The Peene rises near Boddin , and the Warbel , a small tributary of the Trebel , drains to the north , up to 40 meters above sea level .
The districts of Alt Vorwerk, Groß Lunow, Holz Lübchin, Klein Lunow, Neu Boddin and Neu Vorwerk belong to Boddin.
history
In 1288 the name of the parish village Boddin appears for the first time in a document in connection with the consecration of the local church. Neu Boddin, the youngest district is a settlement from the early 19th century.
On January 1, 1951, the previously independent communities Alt Vorwerk and Groß Lunow were incorporated. With effect from May 26, 2019, Boddin was incorporated into the neighboring municipality of Walkendorf to the west. The last mayor was Elfi Schröder.
Attractions
- Boddin Church : early Gothic building from 1288 (consecration) with a retracted choir made of field stone with ribbed vault and the somewhat later flat-roofed, single- nave brick nave ; in between a triumphal arch . The west tower from 1914/15 has a wooden lantern . Inside, the paintings from the 14th century discovered around 1980 and a Friedrich Friese III organ from 1871.
- A local museum has been set up in the old school.
- Boddin Manor: Erected in the 18th century, additional floors in the 2nd quarter of the 19th century. Today the community office, daycare center and youth club.
- Gutshaus Groß Lunow: mentioned in 1237, owned by von Levetzow from 1309 to 1647 , from 1652 Hartwig von Wackerbarth , lastly Achatz von Wackerbarth († 1711), then changing owners, including again those of Levetzow, then von Hobe , von Lowtzow and von Bolte. Christoph and Catharina von Müller, b. Löppel from Kägsdorf on the Baltic Sea acquired the estate in 1802. Newer three-part buildings on medieval foundations, most recently late Classicist around 1884. The manor house, privatized after the fall of the Wall, fell into ruin after years of vacancy. Recommended for an emergency backup program.
- Alt Vorwerk manor: two-storey, 9 or 11-axis plastered building from 1861 with a central risalit , base and mezzanine floor according to plans by Heinrich Thormann for von Oertzen . (Before they were acquired in 1826, it belonged to von Brützkow and von Ferber).
- Twin windmills as earth or gallery Dutch mills near Neu Vorwerk.

The area around Boddins is dominated by agriculture.
Transport links
The connecting road from Gnoien to Teterow passes near Boddin ; these two cities are on the federal highways ( 110 and 104 ). The federal motorway 20 is around 15 kilometers away (junction Ticino ). The nearest train stations are over 20 kilometers away in Teterow on the Güstrow – Neubrandenburg line , in Ticino on the Rostock – Ticino line and in Demmin on the northern line .
