Wasdow is a district of the municipality of Behren-Lübchin in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).

The previously independent municipality of Wasdow with its districts Alt Quitzenow, Bobbin, Friedrichshof and Neu Quitzenow was incorporated into Behren-Lübchin on September 5, 2011 . On December 31, 2010, 392 inhabitants lived in an area of ​​26.06 km².

Wasdow is located at the confluence of the Warbel and Trebel , whose wide glacial valley in the Wasdows area is designated as a nature reserve of around 8 km² . The Trebel forms the historical border between Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania . To the north of Wasdow lies the area of the Vorpommern-Rügen district and the Mecklenburg Lake District in the southeast . The environment is mostly flat - at 22 m above sea level. NN, the Schwedenberg is the highest elevation in the Wasdow district - the water level of the Trebel, on the other hand, is only a few centimeters above sea level, although the Peenem estuary ( Peenestrom / Stettiner Haff ) is about 85 kilometers away. The small town of Gnoien is six kilometers from Wasdow, the Hanseatic city of Rostock 48 kilometers.

history

Wasdow was first mentioned in a document in the middle of the 14th century. The place name shows that these are settlements founded by Wends . The half-timbered church dates from 1754 and has a separate neo-Gothic belfry. Landowners were u. a. the von Hobe families (around 1376 to 1779), von Blücher and Carl Schmidt (from 1895). The estate was relocated in 1932. The manor house dates from 1911 and after 1945 was a residential and cultural center with a kitchen, restaurant and kindergarten; from 2002 village community center. Remains of Wasdow Castle can still be seen in the manor park .

Neu Quitzenow: Behind the former district are two barrows from around 1800-600 BC. Chr.

Bobbin was first mentioned in 1283 in a document by Heinrich I von Werle . The place was incorporated on January 1, 1951.

Inside there is a late Gothic winged altar with a crescent moon Madonna , a historical combination of pulpit and confessional, two galleries from the Renaissance period and a small Lütkemüller organ. Transport links

The federal road 110 ( Rostock - Demmin ) leads through the nearby small town of Gnoien . Wasdow can be reached from the federal motorway 20 via the Ticino and Bad Sülze junction (distance approx. 17 km). The next train stations are in Ticino , Demmin and Teterow.
