Hohen Sprenz is a municipality in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The municipality is administered by the Laage office based in the city of the same name .
geography
The municipality of Hohen Sprenz is located between the towns of Schwaan and Laage, about 22 km from Rostock . The area is determined by a hilly ground moraine landscape , which is bordered by the glacial valleys of the Warnow (in the west) and the Recknitz (in the east). Embedded in these hills are the approx. 2 km² large Hohen Sprenzer See and the smaller Papensee . The Mühlbach flows through the municipal area and drains south to the Nebel . The municipality of Hohen Sprenz borders the Schwaan office in the west .
Hohen Sprenz is surrounded by the neighboring communities Dolgen am See in the northeast, Laage in the southeast, Mistorf in the south, Rukieten in the west and Wiendorf in the northwest.
Hohen Sprenz and the districts of Dudinghausen, Klein Sprenz and Woland are grouped around the Hohen Sprenzer See.
history
The name of the village of Hohen Sprenz appears for the first time in documents in 1270, at which time the church had been standing for almost 50 years.
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities of Dudinghausen and Klein Sprenz were incorporated.
coat of arms
The coat of arms was designed by Helmut Otte (Mayor of the Hohen Sprenz community from 2004 to 2009) and approved by the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Ministry of the Interior on June 19, 2009. At the same time, the blue and white striated flag with the coat of arms of the municipality of Hohen Sprenz, developed by Helmut Otte, was approved.

The connecting road from Schwaan to Laage runs through the community . The Laage motorway junction on the A 19 is only 8 km from Hohen Sprenz, the airport 6 km. The nearest train station is in the town of Schwaan ( Rostock –Güstrow and Rostock– Schwerin routes ).
