Papendorf is a municipality in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The community belongs to the Warnow-West district with its seat in the municipality of Kritzmow . The Protestant community belongs to Rostock-Biestow .

geography

The municipality of Papendorfs lies on the western bank of the lower Warnow and borders directly on the south of the port and Hanseatic city of Rostock . The community has become a preferred residential location with many homes, the number of residents has increased accordingly since 1990.

Papendorf is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rostock in the north, Dummerstorf in the east, Pölchow in the south, Ziesendorf in the southwest and Kritzmow in the west.

Papendorf includes the districts Papendorf, Gragetopshof, Groß Stove, Niendorf and Sildemow.

history

In the period between 1150 and 1300, the villages in the municipality were founded by German farmers as part of the eastern settlement . Papendorf was first mentioned in a document in 1257. Papendorf has been the municipality's school location since the 19th century. Today's Warnowschule comprises a primary school and a regional school .

  • In the district of Sildemow there is a memorial stone from 1969 for the communist Fiete Schulze , who was murdered by the Nazi judiciary in 1935 after his return from Soviet emigration . After the sinking of a Rostock motor ship with Schulze's name in 1967, young people named their club after him and built this memorial on the 34th anniversary of his execution.
  • The Art Nouveau villa built in 1907 in Papendorf by the entrepreneur Heinrich Höppner is a listed building
