Am Salzhaff is a municipality in the west of the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The community is administered by the Neubukow-Salzhaff office , based in the city of Neubukow .
geography
The namesake for the young community is the Salzhaff , a bay in the Baltic Sea that is separated from the open sea by the Wustrow peninsula . A little inland from the flat south-east bank of the Salzhaff lies the municipality of Am Salzhaff. It lies on the border with the district of Northwest Mecklenburg and is 22 km from the independent Hanseatic city of Wismar . In the southwest of the municipality, the Scharberg, 1.5 km from the coast, reaches a height of 54 m above sea level. NN. Neighboring communities of Am Salzhaff are Rerik in the northeast, Neubukow in the east, Alt Bukow in the south and Boiensdorf in the southwest.

The districts of Klein Strömkendorf, Pepelow, Rakow and Teßmannsdorf belong to the municipality of Am Salzhaff.
history
Am Salzhaff: During the GDR era, a children's holiday camp was operated in Falkencamp Pepelow directly on the Salzhaff.
The community was formed on June 13, 2004 from the previously independent communities Pepelow and Rakow.
Klein Strömkendorf: The renovated, two-storey, nine-axle manor house was built around 1850.
Rakow was first mentioned in a document in 1238. The estate was owned by the von der Lühe families (15th century - 1782), Baron von Sell (until 1791), who had the initially one-story manor house built. It followed u. a. the von Restorff family (1796–1945).
Teßmannsdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1249. Like Rakow, the estate was owned by the von der Lühe and von Restorff families.
