Pölchow is a municipality in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The municipality is administered by the Warnow-West office based in the municipality of Kritzmow .
Pölchow is surrounded by the neighboring communities Papendorf in the north, Dummerstorf in the east, Benitz in the south and Ziesendorf in the west.
The districts of Huckstorf and Wahrstorf belong to Pölchow .
The proximity to Rostock and the good transport connections ( Ostseautobahn A 20 ) have allowed the community to grow rapidly in recent years. In addition to the numerous homes that were built, a few businesses also settled in the village.
geography
The municipality of Pölchow is about ten kilometers south of Rostock city center. The area around the community is approx. 40 m higher than the valley of the lower Warnow , which is designated as a landscape protection area east of Pölchow .
history
The "Polchowe" created as a round was first mentioned in 1275, the districts "Hukestorpe" (Huckstorf) 1314 and "Wardestorpe" (Wahrstorf) 1337. From the middle of the 19th century brickworks were operated because of the clay deposits in the area. Since 1894 Pölchow has been connected to the Bad Kleinen – Rostock railway line . On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities of Huckstorf and Wahrstorf were incorporated.

Mayor of the municipality is Irmgard Rautenberg (citizens' initiative Pölchow-Huckstorf-Wahrstorf), she was elected with 66.2% of the votes.

- "The coat of arms shows a right golden flank post in blue, accompanied by a red-tongued golden griffin head over three (2: 1) golden bricks."
The bricks symbolize the three places in the municipality and their history in relation to brick production, primarily in the 19th and 20th centuries. The bar stands for the nearby Warnow and the Greif represents the historically closely interwoven history with the Hanseatic city of Rostock.

- “The flag is streaked with blue, yellow and blue across the longitudinal axis of the flag cloth. The blue stripes each take up a quarter, the yellow stripe takes up half the length of the flag cloth. In the middle of the yellow stripe is the municipal coat of arms, which takes up two thirds of the height of the flag. The height of the flag is related to the length as 3 to 5. "
