The village church of Hohen Sprenz is an early Gothic church of brick with components made Feldstein, whose choir dendrochronologically was (d) dates back to the 1261st It consists of a retracted, square choir made of field stones, the short roughly square nave from around 1280 and a mighty square west tower the width of a ship made of brick masonry. The tower tower was built in 1458 (d) and received a pointed helmet . The lancet windows on the choir and on the nave are arranged in groups of two and three. On the south side of the ship there is a walled-in return portal with inlaid round bars in the throats. The choir is closed with a domical vault . The nave, which is connected to the choir by a heavy pointed triumphal arch , ends with a late Gothic star vault, which was probably built at the same time as the roof, which was renewed in 1429 (d).

In the vaults of the choir there are still paintings from the end of the 13th century that show the coronation of Mary and the death of Mary as well as the twelve apostles and Mary and Christ enthroned between saints. They were restored around 1900.

Furnishing

Interior view with pulpit

The main piece of equipment is a baroque altarpiece from 1720/30 with a crucifixion painting in a columnar architecture, which shows putti in the carved cheeks between fruit hangings and is crowned by a medallion with a resurrection scene . The simple pulpit with niche architecture dates from the second half of the 17th century. The early Gothic font was probably made of granite in the second half of the 13th century. Next to mention are two patronage lodges in Louis XVI style from the late 18th century. Several gravestones show the deceased in deep drawings. The oldest gravestone is the one that Pastor Gherard Leuwentkoper set for his mother Ava († 1393), his predecessor Nicolas Rasor and himself. Two tombstones from 1588 and 1672 were placed for members of the von Drieberg family .

The organ is a work by Carl Noebe from 1841/42 using an old inventory of unknown size from 1701/02. It was implemented and rebuilt by Carl Börger in 1885 and today has 13 stops on a manual and pedal . Two bells, one from 1930 with the tone g sharp 1 ± 0 and the second from 1773 with the tone ~ g 3, form the ring.
