Côte des Blancs

The Côte des Blancs is an approx. 20 km long champagne- growing area, which goes south from the Valle de la Marne (in the department of Marne ), which cuts the Champagne from east to west. The entire wine-growing area of ​​Champagne has 34,000 hectares, roughly as much as New Zealand . Most of the vineyards face east.

Almost 10% of this area is in the Côte des Blancs: 3150 ha (half the size of Franconia). 95% Chardonnay is grown.
