Blancs-Coteaux is a French commune with 3,325 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the Arrondissement Épernay and is the main town ( bureau centralisateur ) in the canton of Vertus-Plaine Champenoise .

history
On January 1, 2018, Blancs-Coteaux was formed as a Commune nouvelle (new municipality) from the previously independent municipalities of Gionges , Oger , Vertus and Voipreux .

- Mayor's office, in its day the rooms were occupied by an old maladrerie, which was run by resolute ladies, the Dames Régentes , who were responsible for the education of young girls. Since 1807 the house has housed the Mairie, which after merging to form the Commune nouvelle also became the town hall of the new municipality

Viticulture
The area is an important wine-growing area of the Côte des Blancs , part of the growing area for the base wine of champagne (see also Champagne (wine-growing area) ). The municipality's vineyards are classified as Premier Cru , i. H. classified as good, but not as top locations. As everywhere on the Cote des Blancs dominated Blend of Chardonnay . One sixth of the stock in Blancs-Coteaux is made up of Pinot Noir . The landowners in Vertus include the large champagne houses Moët & Chandon , Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin , Taittinger and Roederer .
Partnerships
A partnership with the German municipality of Bammental in Baden-Württemberg has existed since 1966 via the Vertus district .
