It belongs to the Arrondissement Épernay and the canton Dormans-Paysages de Champagne (until 2015 Montmort-Lucy ). The inhabitants are called Bayens .

Baye is about 48 kilometers south-southwest of Reims . Baye is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Champaubert in the north, Congy in the east, Villevenard in the south and south-east, Talus-Saint-Prix in the south and south-west, Bannay in the west and Fromentières in the north-west.
