Esternay is a French commune with 1,871 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the arrondissement Épernay and was the capital of the canton of Esternay until its dissolution in 2015 , since then it has belonged to the canton of Sézanne-Brie et Champagne .
