Moslins is a French commune with 308 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the canton of Vertus-Plaine Champenoise (until 2015: canton of Avize ).
geography
Moslins is located in the west of the Champagne-Ardenne region, 34 kilometers southwest of Reims and 8 kilometers southwest of Épernay , between Morangis in the west and the hamlet of Montgrimaux, which belongs to Grauves , in the east. The Argensolle brook flows through the municipality.
history
The place name Moslins is derived from moulin , the French word for "mill".
The Cistercian Abbey of Argensolles was located on the Argensolle . As a result of the French Revolution (1789–1799) the buildings were sold. Today only ruins of the monastery can be seen at the Ferme d'Argensolles . A Gisant ( reclining grave statue ) from Moslins by Blanka of Navarre is on display today in the Museum of Châlons-en-Champagne .
