Janvilliers is a French commune with 167 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Épernay and the municipality association Brie Champenoise founded in 1996 . The inhabitants are called Janvillarois .

Janvilliers is located 20 kilometers north of Sézanne , 50 kilometers west of Châlons-en-Champagne and about 95 kilometers east of Paris in the Brie on the western edge of the Champagne sèche , the "dry Champagne". The municipal area of 8.74 km² is forestless and is characterized by rolling hills covered by large fields. The Russeau de la Fontaine Noire on the northeast border is the only flowing water in the municipality. Heavy rain can run off to the northwest via the Dhuis and Surmelin to the Marne . The Hauts de Brayes hill is the highest point in the municipality at 236 m above sea level. The Janvilliers water tower is located near this. The municipality includes the hamlets of La Marlière, La Duretterie, La Boularderie and La Roquetterie . Janvilliers is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Margny in the north, La Chapelle-sous-Orbais in the northeast, Fromentières in the east, Le Thoult-Trosnay in the south, Vauchamps in the west and Montmirail in the northwest.

Economy and Infrastructure
There is an oil well on the southern edge of the Janvilliers municipality. This is exploited by the company Géopétrol SA based in the district of La Boularderie. The spring is part of a small oil field that extends mainly under the area of the neighboring municipality of Vauchamps .
Ten farms are located in Janvilliers (grain growing, cattle breeding).
The D 933 trunk road (formerly Route nationale 3 ) runs through the south of the municipality of Janvilliers from Meaux via Montmirail to Châlons-en-Champagne . In the town of Sézanne , 20 kilometers to the south, there is a connection to the Route nationale 4 from Paris to Nancy, which is partially developed like a motorway .
