Janvilliers is a French commune with 167 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Épernay and the municipality association Brie Champenoise founded in 1996 . The inhabitants are called Janvillarois .

Janvilliers is located 20 kilometers north of Sézanne , 50 kilometers west of Châlons-en-Champagne and about 95 kilometers east of Paris in the Brie on the western edge of the Champagne sèche , the "dry Champagne". The municipal area of ​​8.74 km² is forestless and is characterized by rolling hills covered by large fields. Economy and Infrastructure

There is an oil well on the southern edge of the Janvilliers municipality. This is exploited by the company Géopétrol SA based in the district of La Boularderie. The spring is part of a small oil field that extends mainly under the area of ​​the neighboring municipality of Vauchamps .

The D 933 trunk road (formerly Route nationale 3 ) runs through the south of the municipality of Janvilliers from Meaux via Montmirail to Châlons-en-Champagne .
