Ambonnay is a French commune with 970 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the arrondissement Épernay and the canton Épernay-1 (until 2015: canton Ay ). The inhabitants are called Ambonnagéens .

Ambonnay is located about 15 kilometers east-northeast of Épernay . Ambonnay is surrounded by the neighboring communities Verzy and Trépail in the north, Vaudemanges in the east and northeast, Isse in the east, Condé-sur-Marne in the south, Tours-sur-Marne in the southwest, Bouzy in the west and Val-de-Livre in the northwest.
