Montgenost is a French commune , located in the department of Marne in the region Grand Est is located.
geography
Montgenost is close to the neighboring departments of Aube and Seine-et-Marne , 3.5 kilometers east of Villenauxe-la-Grande and 2.5 kilometers southwest of Bethon . The municipality occupies an area of 8.4 km².
Montgenost is located in the south of the Côte de Sézanne . This forms a sector in the southeast of the innermost layer of the Paris Basin , the Côte de l ' Île-de-France . While the altitude above the stratification level ( 206 m ) has a large closed forest area, vineyards have been planted in the midst of which the village is located on the slopes that suddenly fall in a general south-east direction to 90 m . The Côte de Sézanne forms a region in the Champagne wine-growing region . The Seinen lowlands begin at Romilly-sur-Seine about six kilometers south of the village .
history
The city's residents call themselves Montgenostiers (male) or Montgenostières (female). The castle, which characterizes the townscape, was built in 1660 by Pierre Legras de Vaubercey, and is still owned by the family today.
