Mareuil-le-Port is a French commune with 1,166 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region .
geography
Mareuil-le-Port is located in the Marne Valley, 20 km west of Épernay , the seat of the sub-prefecture . The municipality consists of the three localities Mareuil-le-Port, Port-à-Binson and Cerseuil.
history
Archaeological finds prove a Neolithic settlement in the area. There was a Roman settlement in the area of Port-à-Binson.

The population of Mareuil-le-Port has remained largely constant over the past 40 years with slight fluctuations, but on average lagged behind the development in France as a whole. In the case of a small excess of births, the fluctuations are mainly based on immigration and emigration.

Attractions
The church of Mareuil, classified as a monument historique , dates from the 12th to 17th centuries. The tower and the west portal were built in the 12th century. The Romanesque nave was renewed in the 16th century. The transept and the head building are kept in the Renaissance style.

The community is dominated by viticulture - the wines may be used to make champagne.

Mareuil-le-Port has had a town partnership with the Rhineland-Palatinate municipality of Zornheim since 1984 .
