Matthias Gretzschel

Matthias Gretzschel (born February 28, 1957 in Ortrand ) is a German journalist , theologian , publicist and writer .

Life

Matthias Gretzschel was born in the small town of Ortrand am Schraden in southern Brandenburg as the son of a pastor and grew up in Dresden . He completed an apprenticeship as a bookseller. From 1979 to 1984 he studied at the University of Leipzig theology . In 1988 the doctorate followed in the field of Christian archeology and church art .

During the reunification period he moved to West Germany a short time later. Since 1990 he has been the cultural editor of the Hamburger Abendblatt .
