Friedrich Mie (born July 24, 1865 in Sanitz near Rostock , † August 1, 1911 in Berlin ) was a German ancient historian and high school teacher.

Friedrich Mie, the son of the businessman Amandus Mie, attended the grammar school of the Great City School Rostock , passed the school-leaving exam there on August 31, 1883 and studied history and classical philology at the University of Rostock from the winter semester 1883/84 . On March 20, 1888 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . He passed the teaching examination on December 10, 1888 in Latin and Greek and on June 29, 1889 in history; on December 2, 1890, a supplementary examination in French followed.

After the probationary year at the large city school Rostock (1890/91), Mie taught there as an assistant teacher. From October 1, 1891, he moved to the Paulinum boarding school of the Rauhen Haus in Horn near Hamburg for a year ; then he returned to the large city school Rostock. From there he went to the Realprogymnasium in Ribnitz on April 1, 1894 . After a few years he left Mecklenburg and went on January 1, 1896 as a regular assistant teacher at the grammar school and secondary school in Bremerhaven . A year after taking up his post, he was promoted to senior teacher; every two to three years he received a raise.

After twelve years, Mie moved from Bremerhaven to the Realgymnasium in Berlin-Grunewald (April 1, 1908), where he was appointed high school professor on December 15, 1908. He died on August 1, 1911 at the age of 46.

In addition to teaching, Mie dealt with scientific studies on the history of Greek cults, in particular on the organization of the Olympic Games . For 1904/05, Mie received half a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute , which was intended for senior teachers. This enabled him to conduct extensive research trips to Greece and to participate in the international archaeological congress in Athens, which took place in 1905.
