Johann I. (Werle)

Johann I, Lord of Werle [-Parchim] (* around 1245; † October 15, 1283 ); was lord of Werle from 1277 to 1281 and lord of Werle-Parchim from 1281 to 1283.

He was the eldest son of Nikolaus I and Jutta von Anhalt.

After the death of his father in 1277, he first ruled over Werle together with his brothers Heinrich I and Bernhard I. In 1281 it was decided to divide and Johann took control of the Werle-Parchim part. He was married to Sophia, daughter of Count Gunther von Lindow-Ruppin . He was buried in the Doberan Minster .
