The Rostock motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Rostock ; short form: Rostock cross ) is a motorway junction in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania south of Rostock . It connects the federal autobahn 19 (Rostock - Wittstock / Berlin ; Europastraße 55 ) with the federal autobahn 20 ( Baltic Sea autobahn ; Europastraße 22 ).

geography

The cross is located in the municipality of Dummerstorf in the Rostock district . The closest districts are Hohen Schwarfs, Waldeck, Kavelstorf and Dummerstorf (place). It is located about 50 km east of Wismar , about 80 km west of Greifswald and about 8 km south of Rostock .

The Rostock motorway junction has junction number 9 on the A 19 and number 16 on the A 20.

history

The cross has existed since 2000, when the "Ostseautobahn" (A 20) was built. It was officially opened on December 16, 2002. However, it was not fully drivable until August 2002, when the A 20 to the east was opened.

Design and state of development

Both motorways have four lanes. The direct ramp in the northwest quadrant is two-lane, all other ramps are single-lane.

The cross was created as an adapted shamrock.

Traffic volume

Especially in the summer months there is a lot of traffic on both motorways at the Rostock junction when holidaymakers from Berlin and Hamburg drive to Graal-Müritz , Fischland-Darß-Zingst , Rügen and Usedom . Another important destination is the Rostock ferry port , from where there are connections to Gedser in Denmark , Trelleborg in Sweden , Helsinki in Finland , Tallinn in Estonia and Ventspils in Latvia .

The motorway junction is used by around 59,000 vehicles every day.
