The Lübeck motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Lübeck ; short form: Lübeck cross ) is a motorway junction near Lübeck in Schleswig-Holstein . It connects the federal highway 1 ( Vogelfluglinie ) with the federal highway 20 ( Baltic Sea highway ).
geography
The motorway junction is located in the municipality of Hamberge in the Stormarn district , on the border with the independent Hanseatic city of Lübeck. The surrounding villages are the municipality of Badendorf and the Lübeck districts of Buntekuh , Moisling and St. Lorenz . It is located about 5 km southwest of Lübeck's old town , about 50 km northeast of Hamburg and about 100 km west of Rostock . The Trave runs around one kilometer to the south and is crossed by the A 20 in the direction of Rostock.
The Lübeck motorway junction has junction number 24 on the A 1, and number 1 on the A 20. The numbering of the junction points on the A 20 may be adjusted when the western extension to Lower Saxony is complete.
history
The intersection structure was opened on December 18, 2001 in the form of the so-called half-leaf clover , as the lanes of the A 20 to the northwest had not yet been built. This section was approved on July 28, 2009, and the motorway junction has been fully operational since then.
The A1 has existed in this area since 1937, making it the oldest section of the motorway in Schleswig-Holstein.
Design and state of development
The A1 has six lanes and the A 20 has four lanes. The direct connecting ramps are (apart from the Hamburg-Rostock route; single-lane) two-lane, the indirect ramps are single-lane.
The motorway junction was designed as an adapted clover leaf . The main bridge structure leads the A 1 over the A 20. There is a retention basin in the southern ear . In the north and south-west of the cross, low-ranking roads are led over the highways.
Traffic volume
The cross is driven on by an average of around 100,000 vehicles every day.

Trivia
The eHighway Schleswig-Holstein has been in operation on the A1 between the Reinfeld junction and the Lübeck motorway junction since June 2019 . The aim of this field test is to test electrically powered overhead line trucks under real conditions.
The Lübeck motorway junction is also a junction of European roads. Coming from Sweden or Fehmarn , European road 47 ends at European road 22 , which branches off from Hamburg to Rostock.
An earlier working title for the construction project was “Kreuz Hamberge”.
