The Horster Dreieck is a motorway triangle in Lower Saxony . Together with the neighboring Maschener Kreuz, it connects the federal motorways 1 , 7 and 39 . The Horster triangle consists of a north and a south part, which merge into one another. The northern part is laid out as an incomplete triangle and only splits the federal highway 1 . The southern part is designed as a fork . This is the actual connection between the two motorways A 1 and A 7 . This connection between the northern and southern parts also forms the continuous motorway in the Horster triangle, while the motorway must be turned off to stay on the respective triangle ( TOTSO ). A few meters to the north, the northern part joins the eastern part of the Maschener Kreuz, which connects the A 1 with the A 39 . In the further course of the southern part to the north there is an ear that enables the crossing from the A 7 (coming from Hanover) to the A 1 (in the direction of Bremen). About 1.5 km further on, the A 39 merges into the A 7. This threading is also the western part of the Maschener Kreuz. Coming from the south, however, there is no possibility of changing from the A 7 to the A 39 motorway, so this interrelation leads over the A 1 through the Horster triangle.
The Horster triangle and the neighboring Maschener Kreuz coherently form the five-armed motorway junction of the federal motorways 1, 7 and 39. The two motorway junctions only connect the three motorways together, as there are interrelationships between the A 1 and the A 7 in the Horster triangle cannot be driven, but instead can be handled via the Maschener Kreuz. Coming from the north on the A 7 there is neither the option of changing to the A 1 motorway in the direction of Lübeck nor to the A 1 in the direction of Bremen in the Horster Dreieck. These routes and also the route A 1 Bremen in the direction of A 7 Hamburg can only be accessed via the Maschener Kreuz.
For the route Hamburg (A 7) in the direction of Bremen (A 1) and vice versa, there is also the option of shortening it via the federal motorway 261 .
