The Dortmund / Unna motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Dortmund / Unna ; short form: Dortmund / Unna junction ) is a motorway junction in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region . It connects the federal highway 1 ( Heiligenhafen - Cologne - Saarbrücken ; E 37 ) with the federal highway 44 ( Aachen - Kassel ; E 331 ), as well as with the federal highway 1 .

geography

The motorway junction is located in the urban area of Unna in the Unna district . Surrounding cities are Dortmund and Holzwickede . The closest districts are Unna-Mitte, Massen and Billmerich, belonging to Unna, and Wickede , which is in Dortmund. It is located about 15 km east of Dortmund city center, about 30 km northwest of Arnsberg and about 20 km southwest of Hamm .

The Dortmund / Unna motorway junction has junction number 84 on the A 1 and number 52 on the A 44.

Design and state of development

The A 44 has been expanded to six lanes in the direction of Kassel due to heavy traffic, as has the A 1. The B1 has four lanes. All connecting ramps are single-track.

The motorway junction was laid out as a clover leaf . On the A1, the cross forms a double junction with the AS Unna .

The A 44 turns into the B 1 in the direction of Dortmund, before it becomes the A 40 after leaving the city . There are plans to develop this section completely free of intersections and to upgrade the B1. The A 44 in the direction of Aachen begins south of Essen in the transition from the B 227.

A reconstruction of the cross to unbundle the traffic flows is planned.
