The Düsseldorf-Nord motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Düsseldorf-Nord ; short form: Düsseldorf-Nord junction ) is a motorway junction in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region . It connects the federal highway 44 ( Aachen - Kassel ) with the federal highway 52 ( Mönchengladbach - Marl ). It shares this property with the Neersen motorway junction . Originally the federal motorway 59 ( Dinslaken - Bonn ) was supposed to cross those two motorways in it.

geography

The motorway junction consists of two parts, a north part and a south part. This is due to the limited space as it is in an urban location. The northern part lies in the area of the Düsseldorf districts Lichtenbroich and Lohausen and the southern part in the urban area of Ratingen . The closest districts are Rath , Lichtenbroich and Lohausen in the Düsseldorf area, as well as Ratingen-West . It is located about 8 km north of Düsseldorf city center, about 25 km southwest of Essen and about 15 km south of Duisburg .

Düsseldorf Airport is located near the intersection and can be reached via the A 44 in the direction of Mönchengladbach .

The Düsseldorf-Nord motorway junction has junction number 32 on the A 44 and number 22 on the A 52.

Design and state of development

The A 44 has four lanes in the area of the cross and to the east, and six lanes to the west. The A 52 has six lanes. The connecting ramps are two-lane in the northern part and single-lane in the southern part. Both parts were laid out as motorway triangles; the northern part as a pear and the southern part as a right-hand trumpet .

BW

In addition, the A52 in the cross has the peculiarity that the two neighboring junctions 21 Düsseldorf-Rath and 23 Ratingen are integrated into the cross, so that it has a triple junction there , which in turn is analogous to the two-part cross made up of the two double junctions AS ( 21) Düsseldorf-Rath / AK (22) Düsseldorf-Nord (southern part) and AK (22) Düsseldorf-Nord (northern part) / AS (23) Ratingen exists. The distances between these junctions and the cross are so small that they have separate departure ramps from the connecting ramps from the A 44.

Traffic volume

The cross was used by around 122,000 vehicles every day in 2015.
