The Bargteheide motorway junction (abbreviation: AK Bargteheide ; short form: Bargteheide cross ) is a motorway junction in Schleswig-Holstein . It connects the federal freeway 1 ( Vogelfluglinie ; E 22 ) with the federal freeway 21 ( Kiel - Bargteheide ), which ends here , which merges into the B 404 in the southeast .

geography

The motorway junction is located in the municipality of Hammoor in the Stormarn district , on the border with Todendorf . Surrounding communities are Lasbek and Steinburg . It is located about 30 km southwest of Lübeck , about 30 km northeast of Hamburg and about 70 km south of Kiel. The eponymous city of Bargteheide is located around 5 km west of the cross.

The Bargteheide motorway junction has junction number 27 on the A 1 and number 19 on the A 21.

history

The crossing structure was opened in the course of the four-lane expansion of the B 404 in 1998. After closing the gap between the intersection with the A1 and the Bad Oldesloe- Süd junction , the entire expansion route was upgraded to the A 21.

Before the B 404 was upgraded, the junction was known as the “Bargteheide / Kiel junction”.

Design and state of development

The A 1 has six, the A 21 four and the B 404 two lanes. All existing connecting ramps are single-lane.

The motorway junction was created as an incomplete clover leaf . Except in the south-west and north-east quadrants, the connecting ramps are missing and will be replaced on the A1 by the old Bargteheide junction approx. 500 m north of the cross. On the A 21, a junction on the B 404 replaces the missing connections, whereby this and the associated A 1 driveway are connected to one another via low-ranking roads and a traffic light intersection. The main bridge structure leads the A 21 over the A 1.

The four-lane expansion of the B 404 between the Bargteheide junction and the Schwarzenbek / Grande junction on the A 24 and the resulting upgrade to the A 21 is included in the new Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030 as an urgent requirement . As an interim solution, the B 404 will initially be expanded to three lanes (so-called 2 + 1 traffic routing ); the planning approval procedure is currently in progress for the section between the motorway intersection and Sprenge.

The bridge overpassing the A 21 over the A 1 is now only a single-lane structure, so a rebuilding and expansion of the cross would be absolutely necessary if the A 21 were to be extended in a southerly direction.

Traffic volume

The cross is used by an average of around 97,000 vehicles every day.
