The district got a significant increase in population through the designation of building plots from 1959.
Tremsbüttel
Tremsbüttel was the administrative seat of the Bailiwick and later of the Tremsbüttel Gottorfischen office until 1802. After that, the office was administered together with the offices of Reinbek and Trittau by a joint bailiff based in Reinbek. The office clerk's seat was Tremsbüttel until 1858, then Bargteheide. Around 1500 the villages Bargteheide, Delingsdorf, Hammoor, Fischbek, Itzstedt, Tönningstedt, Neu-Rahlstedt, Hoisbüttel, Willstedt, Tangstedt, Duvenstedt, Mellingstedt and Lehmsal belonged to it, in the 18th century also Vorburg, Lasbek and Klein Hansdorf. In 1670 the Schleswig-Holstein politician Magnus von Wedderkop acquired the Tremsbüttel estate. The farmers in the core area of the Tremsbüttel office were forced guests of the Lasbeker mill until 1839. In 1767 the Vorwerk was divided into 21 parcels and given on a long lease. Already in 1840 it had become 76 plots of land through subdivisions (Sattenfelde). In 1894, the owner of the remnants, Alfred Hasenclever, built Tremsbüttel Castle there in the style of historicism. In 1955/56 the area of the estate was settled with the exception of the remaining seven hectares and given to farming families from the east. In 1928 the neighboring municipality of Vorburg was incorporated into the municipality of Tremsbüttel. A joint volunteer fire brigade had existed since 1890. The joint school, which had existed since the early 18th century, was closed in 1973 after the village community school in Bargteheide was connected.
