Christian Ernst zu Stolberg-Stolberg

Count Christian Ernst zu Stolberg-Stolberg (born July 30, 1783 in Tremsbüttel ; † May 22, 1846 in Lemberg ) was an Austrian k.uk Lieutenant Field Marshal .

At the age of six he received a prebend in the Lübeck cathedral chapter through his father's renunciation in 1789 , which he renounced in 1801 in favor of Heinrich Christoph von Holstein .

He began his military career in the 3rd Uhlan Regiment of Archduke Karl . During the Sixth Coalition War in 1814 was with the regiment as a first lieutenant in the campaign in Italy. In the Battle of Mincio and the Battle of Goito on January 8, 1814, Stolberg-Stolberg distinguished himself several times during attacks by his regiment against enemy cavalry regiments and was wounded. In 1827 he was lieutenant colonel in the 10th cuirassier regiment King Ludwig of Bavaria , in 1831 colonel and in 1834 commander of the 11th cuirassier regiment , in which he remained until his promotion to major general in 1837. He was promoted to major general on November 24, 1837 and to field marshal lieutenant on April 3, 1846.

family

Christian Ernst came from the German noble family of the Counts of Stolberg . His father was the lawyer and poet Friedrich Leopold zu Stolberg-Stolberg , who later converted to Catholicism, and his mother was his first wife, Henriette Eleonore Agnes von Witzleben. Christian Ernst was born the first of 18 children. Four of these children were from his father's first marriage.

The brother Johann Peter Cajus (1797–1874) was the owner of the manor and a member of the Reichstag . The brother Leopold Friedrich (1799-1840) was District Chief of the Salzburg district of the country Austria above the Enns (now Upper Austria ). His brother Joseph Theodor (1804-1859) was a landowner and politician.

Christian Ernst was married to Josephine von Gallenberg (* May 10, 1784, † March 19, 1839) since 1818. The marriage had five children, including:
