geography

The community is halfway between the Hanseatic cities of Hamburg and Lübeck in the immediate vicinity of Bad Oldesloe . The municipality of Rümpel consists of the districts of Höltenklinken, Rohlfshagen and Rümpel. From 1887 to 1976 Rümpel was a station on the Schwarzenbek – Bad Oldesloe railway line .

Rümpel is located on the Süderbeste, Norderbeste and Beste .

history

Höltenklinken manor

The district of Höltenklinken was founded as a noble estate . The farmers of today's main town Rümpel were obliged to serve the estate. As early as 1593, a paper mill is proven to be a watermill at the Beste . The mill was later used as a powder mill and finally as a copper mill until 1874 . Around 1850 a brick factory was built on the estate and a distillery was operated. After the annexation of Schleswig-Holstein by Prussia , the estate was incorporated into the new Stormarn district. With the introduction of the Prussian municipal constitution in 1889, the Rümpel district came into being . When the estate districts were dissolved in 1928, Höltenklinken was incorporated into Rümpel. At that time it had 136 inhabitants.

Rohlfshagen was a Gothic domain that was divided into 13 leaseholds in 1767, of which the Rohlfshagener Hof was the largest with more than a third of the total area. The place was first mentioned in writing in 1402. The Rohlfshagener Kupfermühle, located on the Süder-Beste, has been home to a regionally known excursion restaurant since 1863, which owes its economic boom to the construction of the Lübeck-Hamburg railway in 1865 with the nearby Kupfermühle station. Rohlfshagen received a second station in 1887 when the Oldesloe-Schwarzenbek railway was built. The school building, built in 1913, has been used for events since it was connected to the village community school in Bad Oldesloe in 1973. On January 1, 1978, it joined the municipality of Rümpel. In 1970 Rohlfshagen had 213 inhabitants.

Today's core town Rümpel was first mentioned in writing in 1342. In the 15th century there were twelve Hufen in the village, which were compulsory for the Klinken estate, which was incorporated into the municipality in 1928. In the 19th century there were 14 full hooves, one three-quarter hoof, five Bödner and four cultivation sites in Rümpel.

In 1954 the school in the Klinken district was closed. The school in Rümpel received an extension in 1957 and has served as an event location since it was connected to the village community school in Bad Oldesloe in 1973.

In 1928 the Höltenklinken manor district was incorporated. On January 1, 1978, the community Rohlfshagen was added.
