Oststeinbek ( Low German Ooststeenbeek ) is a municipality in the Stormarn district in Schleswig-Holstein (Germany). The district Havighorst also belongs to the community . The Oststeinbek community was first mentioned in 1255.

geography

Oststeinbek is located in the extreme south of the Stormarn district. It borders directly on the east of Hamburg. The lowest point in Oststeinbek is the Glinder Au , Oststeinbek district, and is m above sea level. NN . The highest point in the community is the Heegsbarg in the Havighorst district at 51.1  m above sea level. NN . The municipal area measures 1131 hectares, which are divided into the Oststeinbek district with 596 hectares and the Havighorst district with 535 hectares. The community borders in the north on the community Barsbüttel , in the east on the city of Glinde and in the west and south on the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg .

The community consists of the districts Meienhoop, Oststeinbek and Havighorst.

history

Havighorst was first mentioned in a document in 1257 when the Asbrook was sold . In 1318 the place became the property of the Reinbek monastery . After the Reformation , in 1529 it was assigned to the ruling office of Reinbek . In 1581 the powder mill Domhorst was built.

After Schleswig-Holstein was annexed by Prussia , Havighorst was added to the newly formed Stormarn district in 1867 . The introduction of the Prussian municipal constitution in 1889 led to the assignment to the district of Sande , later to the district of Lohbrügge . When this was dissolved in 1937 by the Greater Hamburg Act (the municipality of Lohbrügge was incorporated into Hamburg ), Havighorst came to the district of Barsbüttel .

Oststeinbek belonged to the Glinde office since 1948 . With the incorporation of the municipality Havighorst near Reinbek on January 1, 1974, the municipality became vacant.

With the Reformation Oststeinbek became Lutheran. Denominations today: Evangelical Lutheran 39.1%, Roman Catholic 7.6%, without denomination 37.4%, others 15.9%.

The Protestant Christians Oststeinbek belong to the parish Church in Steinbek (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany / Hamburg-East Church District). The ev.-luth. Parish Church in Steinbek is divided into three parish districts: Kirchsteinbek and Mümmelmannsberg (both in Hamburg) and Oststeinbek with Havighorst (in Schleswig-Holstein) and parts of Boberg (in Hamburg). The Church of the Resurrection was inaugurated for Oststeinbek on October 29, 1966 (architect: Olaf Andreas Gulbransson ; altar, pulpit, baptismal font and cross: Karl-Heinz Hoffmann; concrete glass : Hubert Distler; organ: Friedrich Weigle).

Municipal council and mayor

Of the 20 seats in the municipal council, the CDU has eight seats since the 2018 local elections, the SPD six, the OWG electoral community four and the FDP two seats. The mayor is Hans-Joachim Vorbeck (CDU).

The incumbent mayor of the community is currently the non-party Jürgen Hettwer.

Culture and sights

In the community hall of the town hall, the "Laienspielgruppe Oststeinbek", which has existed for over 50 years (founded in 1960), performs two Low German theater plays every year. The seasons are in spring and autumn with ten performances each. There are also four children's fairy tale performances in December. All performances are very popular.

Sports

Oststeinbek has had a sports club since 1948, the Oststeinbeker Sportverein , whose volleyball team played in the 1st Bundesliga under the name "Ostbek Cowboys" during the 2005/06 season and under the name "Hamburg Cowboys" during the 2007/08 season .

There are two large sports halls (including the Walter-Ruckert-Sports Hall) in Oststeinbek, which also have a commercial fitness studio.

The tennis club TC Oststeinbek is located behind the sports halls. Seven outdoor spaces and a double field hall are available to members.

There is a commercially operated golf course for everyone near the sports facilities (nine-hole course).

There are two tennis clubs in the Havighorst district, on the one hand the Havighorst Tennis Club (TCH) since 1978 and the TV Rot Weiss Havighorst tennis club, which was founded in 1976, on the other.

There are also two equestrian clubs in the Havighorst district. The Oststeinbek-Havighorst riding club and the Havighorst riding club.

Economy and Infrastructure

In the northwest of the Oststeinbek district there is an industrial park with a large special area. In addition, numerous medium-sized companies are based in Oststeinbek.

Companies

In Havighorst there is a concrete factory that emerged from a brick factory. A Krombach family had the brickworks built in 1919. However, this founding family had to emigrate to the USA during the Nazi regime and so the East Prussian Hermann Schlick took over the factory. Later, his son-in-law Günther Kuschmierz ran the brickworks and expanded it into a successful business.

traffic

The Hamburger Verkehrsverbund connects the place to the local public transport. The 133 bus runs from Oststeinbek to Hamburg- Billstedt and the neighboring town of Glinde and temporarily continues to Reinbek-Neuschönningstedt. Line 233 also goes via the Havighorst district to Hamburg-Billstedt and its residential area Mümmelmannsberg. There is also the city bus 333, which runs from Hamburg (U Steinfurther Allee) via Glinde to Reinbek and Trittau.

Oststeinbek has a direct connection to the Federal Motorway 1 .
