geography

Neritz is on the federal highway 75 between Bad Oldesloe and Bargteheide .

history

Neritz is located on the old trade route between Hamburg and Lübeck and was first mentioned in 1345. The Alster-Trave Canal , which was built in the 15th and 16th centuries and was intended to create a navigable connection between Hamburg and Lübeck , also ran through Neritz .

After the lock keeper in Neritz was slain in 1549 after many disputes about the construction of the canal and its costs, further construction was stopped and the canal fell into disrepair.
